Upro golf GPS is available in two formats “Basic” and “Pro.”

Basic format shows you the hazards that are on the hole you are on, showing you this data in order from where your position is to the green. As with many similar devices it also shows you information relating to the green itself.

In both cases the GPS will give you information telling you the distance to the front, to the back and in the case of the green will show you the distance to the center. Despite the small size of the unit the information is displayed in an easy to view format allowing you to make easy assessments of the hole you are on.

Pro format offers you three different views of your current hole allowing you to plan out the perfect hole.

The three views the Upro golf GPS are:

Video flyover shows you a birds-eye view of the hole you to choose allowing you to plan your shots through to the hole. Measure, let’s you calculate any distance between two points you select. SmartView gives the user three options of views relative to where the person is at that point in time.

To summarize this Upro Golf GPS Review.

The Upro Golf GPS although being such a small unit, about the size of an iPod! Offers some fantastic features and a very clear display allowing the user to plan out the perfect round.

One of the down sides to this unit is the lack of a scoring storage system although with the many other features that it does have it is a worthy companion on the fairway.

SkyCaddies

A Range of SkyCaddies

The SkyCaddie will give your golf game the edge it lacks. Ever wish you had an all-encompassing view of the golf course? Or that you could tell – at a glance – just how many yards away your target was? The SkyCaddie golf GPS can. Because this device was designed with golfers like you in mind, it is capable of providing you with critical information that will improve your game and lower your score.

SkyCaddie SG2.5

At 4.5 inches long, 2.2 inches wide, and just under 4 oz., the first in the line of SkyCaddies is sleek and lightweight, making it easy to transport yet easily visible. The SG2.5 is the perfect size for one-handed operation and features an outdoor-readable, backlit screen. Because the GPS is waterproof, it can be utilized regardless of the weatherman’s forecast. The SkyCaddie’s rechargeable lithium battery is capable of providing you with up to 14 hours of uninterrupted play time.

All the SkyCaddie systems feature IntelliGreen technology, which provides you with a fully measured in-depth view of the shape of the green. This includes a direct line-of-play no matter where you stand on the course. The SkyCaddie SG2.5 is also compatible with three SkyCourse memberships available for separate purchase. Depending on which of the 3 courses you decide to get, you will be given access to up to 16,000 course maps. You can save money by plotting your own green, which takes a mere 10 seconds.

SkyCaddie SG3.5

Like the SG2.5, the SkyCaddie SG3.5 provides you with the same eagle-eye view of the green via its IntelliGreen technology and is also compatible with SkyCourse memberships. In addition to this, however, the SG3.5 also features the following:

  • IntelliGreen Pro (Beta): an advanced version of the original IntelliGreen that allows you to view tiers, false fronts, mounds, and contours so you can know what you are facing from wherever you are on the hole.
  • SkyCaddie QuickVue: a virtual view of the safest path from between tee and green, shape of the hole, and measurements to the best fairway position.
  • Digital scorecard that automatically updates the score as your game progresses.
  • Ability to measure how far you hit with each of your clubs to provide you with optimum club selection.
Instant measurements to various greens and hazards.

This SkyCaddie also features a high resolution color screen for extra vibrancy. Although it measures about the same size as the 2.5, this device operates on 3 AAA batteries versus a rechargeable one.

SkyCaddie SG5

This GPS is virtually identical to the SG3.5 in all its capabilities. The only significant difference is that it comes with a rechargeable lithium battery so you that you are spared the recurring cost of AAA batteries. Slightly larger than the previous SkyCaddies, the SG5 measures 5.4 inches and is slightly bulkier at 5.5 ounces. Like earlier models, this one is also waterproof and features IntelliGreen technology.

Golflogix SkyCaddie SGX

The SGX is ultra sleek and comes ready to play with pre-loaded courses. This device features more rapid and precise positioning via TruePoint GPS Precision Technology and a high performance GPS antenna. It also features a full color LCD screen, easily visible even in harsh sunlight. This SkyCaddie’s claim to fame is increased accuracy and overall performance, even if you’re standing under heavy foliage.

Conclusion

Of all the SkyCaddies, the SG2.5 was preferred by most customers. It proved to be the most durable and reliable – the two most critical qualities of a golf GPS. Although a little more basic than the other devices, having only a black and white screen, the SG2.5 provided all the necessary functions golfers found to be most important. Sleek and accurate, this SkyCaddie proved to be a consistent and precise companion on the green. However, if you are looking for a SkyCaddie with all the bells and whistles, then the SGX would be a great choice. Whichever Skycaddie you choose, you are sure to get the best quality and most accurate golf GPS available.
