Garmin Approach G5

Garmin Approach G5 GPS-Enabled Golf Handheld

The Garmin Approach G5 might easily be the answer to all your golfing woes. If you’ve been contemplating buying a rangefinder or a golf GPS, then you certainly want to consider the Approach G5. Shipped to you already pre-loaded with thousands of courses, the Garmin Approach G5 has a ton of great features, not the least of which is its ability to use high-sensitivity GPS technology to measure individual shot distances, and also keep track of yardage to fairways, hazards, and greens.

The big, 3” touchscreen is probably one of the features of the Garmin Approach G5, which most recommends it to golfers. You can touch the screen anywhere to find out real distances from where you are to the place you touches. The screen is big enough so you can get a real view of the course you’re playing and also you can adjust the screen so you can see it in bright sunlight.

You can see exactly where you are in the Approach’s screen in living color detail. What’s so great about this is the Approach’s high sensitivity GPS receiver can pinpoint right where you are on the course, so you can virtually eliminate all guesswork from your game. You can plan your shots, and even look like a pro on courses you’ve never played on before. (Well, if not a pro, then at least you won’t look like you just picked up a golf club.)

Once you get close to the green, you can touch the pin on your Approach’s screen and drag it to the position you think the hole actually is. This way, as you get closer you can get even more reliable and accurate readouts of distances to the pin.

Not only does the Garmin Approach G5 do all of this, but it has a ton of other really handy features. For instance it can keep score for up to four players. It can also remember scores. If you play a course often, you can chart your progress as you master the game.

Although the Garmin Approach G5 comes with thousands of courses already in the device, Garmin is rapidly adding more courses. When you buy the Approach, it comes with a bag clip and a USB cable, along with a quick start manual.

The Approach is not inexpensive. As of the writing of this article, it’s slightly less than $400, right about the same price as its major competitor, the Callaway uPro Golf GPS. If golfing is your thing, however, an extra $400 really is not that much. Especially when you compare the Approach to a new set of clubs, it seems reasonably priced.

I will only post the introduction video here, but I will post more videos as I find them around the Garmin Approach G5 in the same category.

SkyCaddie SG5 Golf GPS

The Sky Caddie SG5 Golf GPS is one of the most popular, top competitors in the Golf GPS world. Along with the Garmin Arroach and the Callaway uPro, the Sky Caddie SG5 Golf GPS is much, much more than just a rangefinder. It’s like having your own caddie who is intimately familiar with the course.

For one thing the Sky Caddie SG5 Golf GPS can tell you distances from wherever you are on the fairway to the pin. As you approach the green, the Sky Caddie can give you a very accurate bird’s eye view of the green. It also gives you distances along a straight line shot. And distances from where you are to the pin.

With an fairly cheap subscription, you can access data for thousands of courses all from the ease of your computer.

The Sky Caddie is the product of some really advanced engineering. Combining advanced GPS satellite technology with other proprietary technologies, the Sky Caddie is well worth taking a look at, if you’re in the market for a device like this. Don’t just rush out and buy just any Golf GPS. Take a look at the Sky Caddie SG5 before you whip out that credit card. You might decide that you would rather have a Garmin or a Callaway, but still you would know that you’re making an informated decision between the three.

Golf GPS Reviews

Golf GPS Reviews

Hi, and thanks for stopping by this site, Golf GPS Reviews.

To help you get the most out of this website, I want to point out a few things.

You see, I’m a golfer! I built this site to help people find out about golf GPS’s, how they work, what they can do for you, and about how much they cost.

You see, when I was first considering buying a golf GPS, I became rapidly confused about what to buy, what a golf GPS should do for me, and even how much it was all going to cost. I mean, did I really need one of those things, or is it just a gadget?

So, I studied the market, took a look at a number of the best golf GPS devices, and then decided which one to buy. That took some time, however.

I realize you might not have the time and the money to purchase a great number of these units and test them that I had to devote to this project. So, in order to help you figure out the marketplace for the best golf GPS systems available, I built this site.

One of the first things you need to check out is my blog. Here’s where I put all of my reviews. If you’ll look up at the right-hand corner of the webpage, you’ll see a box that’s entitled “Golf GPS Systems”. You can click on those links and find out more about specific products and rate them yourself.

I’ve also got a growing Best Golf GPS Comparison pages located in the Golf GPS Systems category. Just to cut through the static, I put my favorite golf GPS’s here along with a comparison of their features.

So that you can get more information, or even buy one of these remarkable devices, I’ve got an Golf GPS Store, which links directly with the top trusted online retailers and prices.

The Golf GPS store gives you up to the minute pricing and information about what’s available.

You can also access the the individual products for whatever golf GPS you’re reading about through the links scattered in the review text.

Another thing I’ve got is a page devoted to golf educational materials in which I entitle “Golf Digest”. It has taken me quite a while to become a competent golfer, and these are some of my favorite ebooks, and other educational materials, which can help cut down on the length of your learning curve (and the number of your shots).

Please, Bookmark this page and tell your friends about it. This is a rapidly growing site. I’m adding new stuff every day.

Your comments and ratings are always appreciated. Just click the “Contact Us” page to email me.

See you at the club!

Mike

Best Golf GPS System

Best Golf GPS System

What’s the best golf GPS system? That’s like asking what’s the best city to live in or the top vacation spot. A few people love the mountains, others like the beach. In other words, it’s to a certain extent a matter of preference.

So, if you’re shopping for a golf GPS unit, how are you going to decide what’s the best golf GPS system Today for you, your means, and your needs? Well, the firstly you want to do is to toss around how much you want to pay out. Next you want to have some grasp as to why you need this system in the beginning. Once you get those specs figured out, you can more easily come to a conclusion on the best golf GPS system for you.

As far as the price, golf GPS systems cost anywhere from one hundred dollars to four hundred dollars. The primary difference between the lowest range to mid grade range systems and the four hundred dollars models is in the quality and extent of the graphics.

A majority of the golf GPS systems work as range finders. That is they can inform you how far it is from wherever your ball is to the green. They do this by accessing the GPS satellites that now orbit the earth. (Same as your car GPS) So, if this is the only capability that you want, then a one hundred and fifty dollar model will work fine for you. Something like the iGolf Neo would be perfect. (It’s not the only choice in this price range ( Roughly $98), by the way. There are many other fine choices.)

On the other hand, if it’s the graphics you’re after, then you’re going to be spending more. The Callaway, uPro Golf GPS, for instance can give you multiple views of both the fairway and the green of the particular hole you are playing. As you approach the tee, it will give you an aerial bird’s eye view. As you progress toward the green, it will show you yardages from where you are to the green. Also, it shows you an aerial view of the green. The Garmin Approach and the Golf Buddy Tour do the same thing. Although the Golf Buddy Tour’s graphics are not quite as spectacular.

In order to make sure that you are getting the best golf GPS system for 2010, you need to ask yourself why you’re buying it in the first place. If you are a gadget aficionado, and you just want to know what’s the best golf GPS system in 2010 that you can show off to your friends with, then something like the Callaway uPro or the Garmin Approach would be perfect. It would also be perfect if you play a lot of courses that are new or “newish” to you and you want that extra information that really detailed pictures of the fairway and the green will give you.

If, however, you’re more interested in things like instant calculation of your shot distance, help with angles of approach to the green, and keeping a historical record of scores and shots on the same course over time, then you probably don’t need all the graphics. So, what’s the best golf GPS system in 2010? It all depends on why you are buying it.
